City Council
The «Executive Council of the City of Bern» currently comprises five members. The «District Council» convenes once a week in the Erlacherhof (except during school holidays).

The «Executive Council of the City of Bern» (Gemeinderat) presents itself for the 2017–2020 legislative period as follows:

- Reto Nause (CVP: Christian Democratic People’s Party): Directorate of Security, the Environment and Energy
- Franziska Teuscher (GB: Green Alliance): Directorate of Education, Social Welfare and Sport
- Marieke Kruit (SP: Social Democratic Party): Directorate of Civil Engineering, Transport and Green Spaces
- Michael Aebersold (SP: Social Democratic Party): Directorate of Finances, Personnel and IT
