The City of Bern makes it less expensive for parents to avail themselves of childcare services in day care centers such as:

  • Kitas, for children not yet at school
  • Tagis, for school-age children
  • All-day schools
  • Childminders

Childcare is starting in August 2017. Parents now have the option of applying online for this financial support via Ki-Tax.

Ki-Tax offers parents

  • easy to use website
  • quick access to their own data with a personal login
  • expedited process in subsequent years, thanks to saved data
  • ability to apply for support for multiple childcare offerings simultaneously through submission of a single application

The link required supporting materials (in German language) will take you to a list of documents that have to be submitted (electronically or in paper form) with applications for the various types of childcare. The FAQ section (also only in German) contains the answers to frequently asked questions.

Please submit only one application. Please do not complete the online application if you have already sent us a paper application. A single application will be sufficient even if your family takes advantage of more than one form of childcare (e.g. one child attends an all-day school and is looked after by a childminder and another child is in a day care centre). All forms of childcare can be entered in one and the same online application.
